Gimli

Gimli is a dwarf hero of Rohan in BFME 1. He is also one of the heroes of the Dwarven faction in BFME 2. He is slow, durable and deadly in melee.

Lore

Gimli, Son of Gloin, was present at the Council of Elrond and part of The Fellowship of the Ring. Gimli's battle prowess is considerable—even by Dwarven standards—so it was no small gesture for him to represent the Dwarves in The Fellowship. It was Gimli who encouraged The Fellowship to pass through the Mines of Moria, where he discovered the fate of his cousin Balin. After escaping Moria, Gimli was granted one of the rarest gifts for a Dwarf—entrance to Lothlorien, where he met the Elf Queen Galadriel. After meeting her, his view of the Elves changed considerably. He became a loyal friend to Legolas. During the defense of Helm's Deep, Gimli was instrumental in holding the Glittering Caves against the Orcs, who attempted to enter from the mountains. Ultimately Gimli became the Lord of the Glittering Caves before joining Legolas in his journey across the sea to the West.

Battle for Middle Earth 1

Overview

Gimli is right after Treebeard the most durable Rohan hero (and is not susceptible to fire). He is slow, tanky and has good damage output, making him an ideal choice for heavy melee combat. His few skills excellently support that role.
